STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

WOMEN'S COUNSELLING CELL

The Women Counselling Cell comprises of one senior women faculty as the Convener,A woman faculty from each department as the members and all the women students of the college under various disciplines as the student members. The WCC as such organizes various women oriented activities such as special lecture on women related topics like Gynecological, Psychological, health & nutritional counseling, legal & social issues pertaining to women etc. Further issues that create mental agony and depression to women students are also identified in each class and counseling is offered for students individually.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELL

There is Grievance Redressal Cell with the Principal as chairman and the Heads of the Departments as members. Any student can approach the cell for redressal of his/her grievances of any kind. The grievance may be personal or general.

ANTI RAGGING AND ANTI EVE TEASING COMMITTEE AND SQUAD

There is an anti – ragging committee and squad to prevent the incidents of ragging and eve teasing, constituted according to Government / University proceedings and norms. This committee comprises of the Principal as the Convener, the Secretary as the member and the teacher representatives with one SC/ST faculty member. In addition there are five student members comprising of boys and girls as the representatives of student community to express their concern and suggestions to prevent or to re-address the problems of ragging and Eve teasing among the students. Local Police Officer is also a member and the committee meets periodically and reviews the situation in the campus.
The committee will supervise, monitor and take action against all the evil acts of ragging and eve teasing in the campus of our college. The committee will meet every month to take stock of the situation and complaints if any received from the students to take final action. Students who suffer because of ragging and Eve teasing should immediately contact the Principal or HOD or any teacher nearby and report the matter without delay.

SCHOLARSHIP / CONCESSIONS

The Scholarship / Financial Assistance offered by the Govt. Of India, Govt. of Tamil Nadu (SC/ST Candidates) and other recognized bodies are available to the eligible students. The college management also recognizes and rewards meritorious performers. For SC/ST Scholarship 75% of attendance is compulsory. Students who discontinue their studies without completing the course should refund the scholarship. Similarly students who are detained from writing exams for lack of attendance will not be given scholarship.
The college assists the students to get scholarship from NGOs and Voluntary Agencies also. In addition to these, Central Sector Scheme Scholarship, Merit Scholarship (Prize Money Award), Chief Minister’s Merit Scholarship, National Handicapped finance and Development Corporation (NH DC) Scholarship, Endowment Scholarship are also awarded to the deserving students satisfying the norms.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Education is meant to be inclusive and SRASC has always followed an open door policy for students from disadvantaged sections of society. The College offers scholarships to deserving students. On a merit-cum-need basis, the students can apply for Management, Private and Government scholarships. Fee concessions and fee waiving are offered for deserving meritorious students.

CAREER GUIDANCE

Choosing the right career is not easy in this age of multifarious opportunities. The Placement Cell offers career guidance and conducts regularly training programmes. It facilitates Campus Recruitment for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Career oriented training programmes are organized for final year students. In the second half of the academic year, the CGC focuses on organizing campus placement drives, career guidance programmes and orientation on options for higher education.

MENTORING

A good mentor can make a world of difference to a student who has to deal with several challenges in life and academics. Under the mentoring system, faculty members offer students both academic and personal guidance. Mentors meet their wards thrice every semester and keep a record of their progress in the mentoring book provided to each student. . We are able to maintain the matrix of 1:20 ratio (one staff for 20 students in most cases) as all the staff members are involved in the process of mentoring.

REMEDIAL COACHING

Slow learners are not left unattended at SRASC. Course teachers arrange remedial coaching for slow learners. This extra coaching helps the first-generation learners, students from the vernacular medium and slow learners to cope with the challenge of higher education.

BOOK BANK

Every department has a book bank. Students who cannot afford to buy the prescribed textbooks can borrow them from the book bank and keep them for their personal use for a shorter period of time, depending on the demand and the number of books available.

COACHING FOR COMPETITIVE EXAMS

The College has been offering coaching for the Civil Services exams since November 2009. Aspiring Students are given coaching by successful people of the concerned department to enhance their ablity to face UPSC//TNPSC and other competitive exams.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL /ANTI RAGGING COMMITEE

A ragging prevention committee has been instituted comprising of the representatives of each category of Stake holders and the committee members’ phone numbers are provided in the college handbook for easy access in case of necesscity. The freshers are informed of the same during their orientation programmes and also encouraged to bring any offensive behaviour to the notice of the authorities.

COUNSELLING SERVICES

The College provides Counselling services to students, throughout the academic session. Counselling Services on HIV, AIDS, Sexuality, Drug Abuse and other adolescent issues, are conducted as and when required. Awareness is provided by doctors and trained counsellors through peer group training programme.

PARENTS MEET

The college organizes Parent meeting thrice in academic year every year viz during the time of admission, after result publication in each semester and during the issue of TC. The main purpose of meet is to create a common platform, where teacher and parents come together to enrich the student’s educational experiences and discuss variety of issues, regarding all round development and welfare of students.
